Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is designed to assist in maximizing tax refunds to Portage County families.

Funds for VITA have been removed from the HPPP 2012 budget as United Way and MSTC have partnered to start a VITA site opening in February 2012.  The AARP sites HPPP supported in previous years will continue to operate in coordination with United Way

Volunteers Needed for New Tax Preparation Site:
Mid-State Technical College, CAP Services and United Way of Portage County are partnering to provide a VITA (Volunteers in Tax Assistance) Site at MSTC’s Stevens Point campus in 2012. VITA Sites are targeted at providing tax preparation for low income families and individuals. Volunteers are needed to prepare taxes and assist at the site through the tax season. If you or someone you know would like to learn about this volunteer opportunity, please contact the United Way of Portage County at 715-341-6740. Informational sessions are scheduled for December 6th and 10th.

Thank you to all who helped for this past tax season!
